1. New features
After last year's huge release of major new features (see the 2015 Newsletter), this year's work was more about growing content and global impact. But still 2 new features couldn't be held back:
Goes Well With ...
Haven't we all wondered regularly, "Now, what would I put with that tune?" In line with its mission of connecting the community of us musicians with the recordings of our best exponents, irishtune.info is well-positioned to expose how tunes have been combined into sets over the past century. In July each Tune Info page gained a new section titled "Goes Well With ...", appearing right after the Discography, compiling answers to that question into a compact summary.
Share Your Tune Notes on Your Public Playlist
By request from a number of members of my.irishtune.info, now since May, when you choose to activate your Public Playlist, your chosen my.irishtune.info Friends will now also see next to each tune on your list any "Note shared my friends" you may have.
2. More tunes, albums, and members
Since the last newsletter, one year ago, irishtune.info has expanded by:
- 105 more albums (for a current total of 828)
- 378 more distinct tunes and songs (for a current total of 6.861)
- 183 new my.irishtune.info members (for a current total of 1,379)
You can browse exactly which albums were added to the database and when, by browsing our Facebook page (even if you do not have a Facebook account), at https://www.facebook.com/irishtune
Many of the added albums were either directly donated or funded by donors from around the world. You can browse the list of donors at:

The number of people using the personalized my.irishtune.info features continues to accelerate. 437 members were active this year, which is 28% more than last year (compared with 22% growth last year). So far 720 (vs. 565 last year) people have entered at least some of their repertoire, and 83 (vs. 60 last year) individuals have entered repertoires of 100 or more tunes. This is giving us a better and better picture of global tune popularity.

3. Vote for which albums and tunes to add

And if you want particular missing tunes to be added to irishtune.info, simply vote in, specifically fund, or donate a quality Irish traditional album which includes that tune!
This poll closes on Dec. 21, 11:00 am Dublin time!
Thanks to a number of donations already made this year, I do not need to beg for dollars this year simply to cover operating costs, but with the current remaining balance I can only buy about 5-10 albums to add to the index this year. And on January 1 irishtune.info, as a not-for-profit project, will be back in the financial red zone.
